Blossoms, beautiful bling & a whole lot of love down at Burlington’s Spencer Smith Park. Lisa & Ivan’s springtime engagement session was the sweetest start to my 2016 wedding and engagement season.
When we first met up, I couldn’t stop smiling at how Ivan just adores Lisa. He sits back quietly listening to her plans and wraps her in the biggest bear hugs. And Lisa? She just beams at him, it’s the best!
Re-schedules resulted in the perfect timing!
After patiently waiting for spring to arrive, we finally got together at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington. I’ve started sending styling guides with outfit ideas and inspiration to my couples. I find this has really helped relieve the “what to wear” stress when it comes to planning your engagement session. Lisa wore a perfect spring dress and Ivan’s small check shirt complimented it perfectly for the start of our session.
Going with the flow during your engagement session
They laughed their way around a dozen or so blossom-crazy tourists and even endured an afternoon thunderstorm and in-car outfit change! These two are such fun and just totally went with the flow which I love about my couples. I always like to suggest an outfit change to add variety to engagement sessions. For these two, we decided to incorporate their favourite jackets and do some more urban shots while we were down at the pier.
Reasons to schedule an engagement session
As always, the first couple of poses always feel a bit odd, especially when you’re doing them in front of so many tourists! But a few of my bad jokes later and these two were nice and relaxed. An engagement session is a perfect excuse to get some updated images of the two of you. It’s also a great practice session for the big day. Throughout the sessions, I learn what poses work, what jokes you find funny and how you fit together as a couple. This takes away the icebreaker time and any awkwardness on the wedding day. An engagement session also allows us to get right into creating timeless couple portraits and a variety of images that you’ll love.
