What’s better than saying yes to your forever standing barefoot, next to your husband on a secluded deck in the middle of a Cape Town forest? I’ll tell you what! It’s a love that knows no borders, endures all barriers and ultimately, ends up in the romantic elopement of two people purely meant to be.
She is from South Africa, he is from England. Their paths crossed in Thailand. He asked her in Scotland and she said yes to a forever by his side, no matter where, or what, or how! I can’t begin to tell you how privileged I felt to be included in this small, beautiful celebration.
Over the past few years, Kerrilin and Alex have lived abroad, travelled together, had adventures and hardships and made many sacrifices for their love. But it’s all lead them to now and their forever together began with a romantic DIY elopement at Silvermist Mountain Lodge in the heart of Cape Town.
With family and friends all over the world, these two couldn’t quite find the right plan for their wedding, nor could they wait to be married. Planned from England, this sweet and simple afternoon of picnic-ing under the trees took shape, with the enormous help of the bride’s sister who hand crafted absolutely everything. Together they picked the decor from craft stores around Cape Town. Stitch by stitch, she made the blush wedding dress. From the custom rings to picnic boxes, cake and bouquet, Candice’s talents & generous efforts are endless.
It was simple. It was elegant. It was imperfectly perfect in every way.
(And I may just have to encourage them for an annual vow renewal in Cape Town!)
Alex & Kerr, I heart you guys! Thank you so much for celebrating in front of my lens. Here’s to your forever!
