Not only did I get to photograph Mark & Maria’s mini engagement shoot in the African sunset, but I was also booked to photograph the wedding build-up – something I don’t often get to do but my goodness it was such fun. After their shoot on Tuesday, and the arrival of a couple more of their international guests, Mark & Maria enjoyed a relaxed, “off the wedding clock” safari day at Chobe in Botswana on Wednesday. {While I was strictly instructed to take the day to enjoy Victoria Falls & relax before the wedding festivities began on Thursday morning…personal post coming soon}.
Thursday morning saw the start of this beautiful African I do get into full swing. The boys left early on their fishing trip, while the girls dressed up in Safari attire for a casual breakfast brunch cruise up the Zambezi. Words of wisdom, lots of laughs and delicious Zambezi beer shandies kicked off Maria’s last day as a Miss and Mark caught a record-breaking Tiger fish…really. It was a monster. {Kidding boys, we know it was a bad time of year for fishing!}
{spotting the wedding boat on the cruise…followed by squeals of excitement}
{Maria’s beautiful MOH toasting the happy bride-to-be}
{We bumped into the boys on the river}
{A wave from the groom}
{The spray from the Falls}
{Selfie time}
{And the most wonderful group of ladies to help Maria celebrate her last day as a Miss}
Back on the banks after a beautiful breakfast cruise, it was time for some lazing by the pool, afternoon naps, a little run-through at the ceremony site {just wait until you see where it was in the wedding preview coming up this week – too glorious for words}, followed by the rehearsal dinner at The Boma. Face painting, sash-wearing, drum circles, dancing…and of course their amazing buffet of traditional foods, game & desserts. An awesome African experience for Mark & Maria’s international guests and the perfect way to get everyone warmed up for a day of wedding celebrations.
{A couple of brave guests “didn’t forget to eat a mopani worm”}
{Guests are greeted with face paint, sashes & a quick dance with The Boma’s traditional dancers}
{Drum circles}
{And dancing}
{The perfect wedding day warm up}
